05-26-91 Dear Sysop : This is the 10th release of The Verify Door to the public. Please report any problems or suggestions to Jim Lockhart (The author) at Page Three BBS, Winter Springs, Florida. 407-327-8421 38.4k baud HST Node 1, or call node 2 at 407-327-4524 12/2400 baud. If you are running an HST modem, be SURE you set the parameter &S0 and write it to your NRAM using the &W command. ALSO, if you have recently upgraded your HST 14.4 to v.42bis, please be sure your S38 register is set to S38=0 or at least some low number! QUICK SETUP: >>>NOTE: If you are upgrading from v1.15 or v1.16, please stop now and follow the directions contained in UPGRADE.DOC. 1. De-archive the files into any directory on your hard drive and go to that directory. 2. Run INSTALL.BAT or SETUP17 You might consider having a copy of the docs handy as there is very little online help within the setup program. 3. Run option #1 first to properly install the TCBV files. 4. Now run option #2 and make changes to any item that might be needed. Save the changes when you're happy with the configuration. 5. Copy the file DOOR to your \PCB directory. (You can re-name this file to whatever filename suits you) 6. Edit DOOR (or whatever you re-named it to) to tailor it to your system. 7. Set up an entry for DOOR (or whatever you named it) in PCBSETUP. 8. Test the door in local mode by logging in locally as a new user...... Please note any line numbers reported if an error occurs. (Line numbers are written to ERROR.LOG) That'll make it a lot easier for me to help you quickly find the problem should one occur. If the code doesn't seem to want to call your users back, check the log file in the door or your caller log and see if there are some NO DIALTONE messages. If so, you may need to change your modems X parameter to X3 instead of X4 so that the modem does not return the NO DIALTONE result code to the door. This door does NOT appear to work well with some UARTS such as a few found in internal modems. It has been running successfully on versions of the Intel 16550, 16450, 16451, 16551, 8250, 8250a and 8250b UARTs and internal modems mapped to the same addresses as com1-8 on the AT bus. If you like the door and want to keep writing future versions, please register your code as mentioned in the documentation. >>>>> BE CERTAIN THE DOOR WORKS ON THE SYSTEM YOU INTEND TO RUN IT ON <<<<< BEFORE REGISTERING!!!!
