.pl Several patches are included in the MTE package that demon strate various features of the MT-32 unavailable from the front panel. Below are listed several of these and why they may be interesting. They are not intended to be particularly useful in and of themselves, but may trigger your imagination. KickBass KickBass is a combination of the Kick drum PCM with a bass timbre. By combining the two you never have to worry about not having your bass and kick "fused" close enough together - it's guaranteed! Don't try to use this for bass solos, however... PlnkMoog PlnkMoog is a bass type patch that uses similar partials wired together with different structures. It is a good timbre to start with to see the effect of structure on sound, as well as to start playing with filters. Change the filter characteristics on a single partial, muting the others and see what happens! WildThng Wild Thing is a weird patch that demonstrates some of the features you might not commonly use. All but one of the partials has the pitch wheel sensitivity turned off, and the one turned on comes through only via the ring modulator. Try loading this patch using MTE and then switch to a controller keyboard, play a note, and see how the pitch wheel changes frequency content. Also, the modulation rates for the LFO are all different. If you change the mod wheel using your controller keyboard you will get a lively erratic variation. Jeff Summers, 1991 1
