It can bring in many different formats, including: o HPGL o TIFF o PCX o EPS o PIC o EPSF o WINDOWS CLIPBOARD Quattro Pro can generate graphic files, which can then be imported into Microsoft Word, in the following formats: o Postscript print file o EPS file o PCX file (Only Version 2.0 and later) o PIC file o HPGL file The manner in which each format is created is explained below: EPS 1. Choose /Print|Graph Print|Layout|Orientation. Select either Portrait or Landscape. 2. Choose Quit|Name. You are prompted for a graph name. Choose the one you want, and then press ENTER. 3. Choose Write Graph File|EPS File. You are prompted to give the EPS File a name. Specify a file name, and press ENTER. Quattro Pro will print the graph to that filename with a .EPS extension in the directory specified by /File|Directory unless otherwise specified. 4. Exit Quattro Pro. Enter Microsoft Word and choose the place within your document where you want the graph. Press <ESC><Library><Link><Graphics>. You are prompted for a file name. Enter the name of the file you created earlier, with the .EPS file extension, and press ENTER. NOTE: The EPS file format will not support patterns in Quattro Pro graphs. All patterns are converted to shades of gray or colors, depending on the printer. Postscript 1. Choose /Options|Hardware|Printers. Make sure the Default Printer (either 1st or 2nd Printer), is set to a Postscript printer. (eg. Apple Laserwriter, QMS ColorScript, NEC LC890, etc...) 2. Choose /Print|Graph Print|Layout|Orientation. Select a graph orientation, either Portrait or Landscape. 3. Choose Quit|Name. You are prompted for a graph name. Choose one and press ENTER. 4. Choose Destination|File. You are prompted to enter a name for the file. Once you enter a name, choose Go. Quattro Pro prints the graph to that name with a .PRN extension in the directory specified by /File|Directory unless otherwise specified. 5. Exit Quattro Pro. Enter Microsoft Word and choose the place within your document where you want the graph. Press <ESC><Library><Link><Graphics>. Word asks you for a file name. Give it the name of the file you created earlier, with the .PRN file extension, and press ENTER. NOTE: Saving a file using this option will support patterns. See NOTE above. HPGL 1. Choose /Options|Hardware|Printers. Make sure the Default Printer (either 1st or 2nd Printer), is set to a Hewlett Packard plotter. (eg. HP 7475) 2. Choose /Print|Graph Print|Layout|Orientation. Select a graph orientation, either Portrait or Landscape. Because of this, when you select Portrait, the graph will actually be in Landscape when imported to another program. If you choose Landscape, it will appear in portrait orientation when imported. 3. Choose Quit|Name. You are prompted to specify which graph. Choose one and press ENTER. 4. Choose Destination|File. You are prompted for a name for the graph file. Enter a name and choose Go. Quattro Pro prints the graph to that file name with a .PRN file extension in the directory specified by /File|Directory, unless otherwise specified. 5. Exit Quattro Pro. Enter Microsoft Word and choose the place within your document where you want the graph. Press <ESC><Library><Link><Graphics>. Word asks you for a file name. Give it the name of the file you created earlier, with the .PRN file extension, and press TAB. Press F1, and choose HPGL. The graph is inserted into the Word document, in the orientation you chose in Step 2. PIC 1. PIC files are only stored in portrait orientation. Changing /Print|Graph Print|Layout|Orientation to landscape has no effect. 2. Choose Quit|Name. You are prompted to specify a graph name. Choose one and press ENTER. 3. Choose Write Graph File|PIC File. You are asked to give the PIC File a name. Once you enter a name, Quattro Pro prints the graph to that file name with a .PIC file extension in the directory specified by /File|Directory unless otherwise specified. 4. Exit Quattro Pro. Enter Microsoft Word and choose the place in the document where you want the graph. Press <ESC><Library><Link><Graphics>. Word asks for a file name. The graph is inserted into the Word document. PCX 1. Choose /Print|Graph Print|Layout|Orientation. Select either Portrait or Landscape. This controls the orientation of the graph. 2. Choose Quit|Name. You are prompted to enter a graph name. Choose one and press ENTER. 3. Choose Write Graph File|PCX File. You are prompted to give the PCX File a name. After you enter a name Quattro Pro prints the graph to that name with a .PCX extension in the directory specified by /File|Directory unless otherwise specified. 4. Exit Quattro Pro. Enter Microsoft Word and choose the place you want to enter the graph. Press <ESC><Library><Link><Graphics>. Word asks for a file name. Enter the file name you chose earlier, with the .PCX file extension. The graph is inserted into the Word document. SPREADSHEETS : Microsoft Word 5.0 can also import spreadsheet files. It can import several different formats from Quattro Pro, including: Lotus 1-2-3, Version 1a, (.WKS) Lotus 1-2-3, Version 2.01, (.WK1) Lotus 1-2-3, Educational Version, (.WKE) Symphony, Version 1.2, (.WRK) Symphony, Version 2.0, (.WR1) Once a file is saved in Quattro Pro with one of the above extensions, enter Microsoft Word. Choose <ESC><Library><Link><Spreadsheet>. Word asks for a file name. Enter the name of your spreadsheet. Press TAB and enter the range you want to import. If you do not select a range, Word imports the entire spreadsheet.
